Concertgebouw and its programme

Concertgebouw Brugge is a performing arts venue whose programme ranges from music and dance to talks, courses, visual arts and film. Music theatre, sound art, conversations and family performances also feature, so the schedule includes more than concerts alone.

If your visit includes a walk through the city, a self-guided Bruges walking tour that starts near the centre can help you plan a route before a performance.

The Concertgebouw Circuit offers a separate way to encounter the building. This visitor trail focuses on its art and architecture, includes sound-art installations and leads to a panorama from the roof terrace. It is open at weekends and, during school holidays, also on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

If your visit includes time to walk around the city, a guide to how Bruges’ main squares and sights fit together can help you put the venue in the context of the old town.

Concertgebouw Brugge is a 10-minute walk from Bruges railway station. The route crosses the station square and main road, then follows a path through Albert Park. Buses from the station toward the city centre leave every five minutes and stop next to the venue.

If you’re cycling, two free bicycle parks are available near ’t Zand. The Noordzandstraat-side facility has 600 spaces, including freely accessible stands and cargo-bike spaces; the Concertgebouw-side facility has 250 spaces. Both parks are open around the clock, and bicycles can be left for a maximum of 24 consecutive hours.

For drivers, the Centrum-Zand underground car park is beneath the Concertgebouw and open around the clock. The venue gives a maximum evening rate of €3.60 for parking from 18:00 until before 07:00; Interparking may change its rates.

Another option is the Centrum-Station car park, also open around the clock. Its rates are at most €1.40 per hour or €7 per day, and a parking ticket provides free bus transport to and from the Concertgebouw.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, with lifts and sloping routes to its halls. At the Chamber Music Hall, reception staff guide visitors with disabilities. The Concertgebouw also describes its reception as dementia-friendly: pictograms mark key locations, and reception staff accompany visitors to their seats.

For performances, late arrivals are admitted during the first interval only if possible; entry to the hall is not guaranteed. The cloakroom is compulsory for safety reasons, is free to use and is monitored until 15 minutes after the performance.
